What is the Latest?

It has been a very challenging journey. It began last November with the Reno Planning Commission approving the Duncan Lakeridge Golf Hotel Resort after the City Planning Department practically rewrote their SPD plan for them. When it went to the Reno City Council in in early 2026, two members, Hilary Schieve and Naomi Duerr voted against the project but the rest of the Council members voted to approve it.

Therefore, it passed and moved to the Regional Planning Commission, which was scheduled on March 24 but was abruptly canceled and rescheduled for April 6 because the nonprofit, Save Lakeridge OpenSpace’s attorney challenged that the City Council violated open meeting laws. On April 6, the attorney cited that the Regional Planning Commission violated NRS 278.0272(8). by rushing the approval when the law clearly states it must be: “necessary to the health and welfare of the community or substantially benefits the community in general.”

Save Lakeridge Open Space has filed 2 separate appeals regarding violation of NRS 278.0272(8) and the April 23, 2026 approval by the Regional Planning Commission (RPC) of City of Reno sponsored Lakeridge Resort CR25-028.

The last stage of this process is the Regional Board. THE REGIONAL BOARD WILL HEAR ALL OF THE INFORMATION AND APPEALS ON JUNE 11.

PLEASE TRY TO ATTEND AT Washoe County Commission Chambers, 1001 East Ninth Street, Reno, AT 6:00PM. PLEASE SEND AN EMAIL TO THE REGIONAL BOARD MEMBERS BELOW in opposition of the City of Reno sponsored Lakeridge Resort CR25-028.

Kathleen Taylor and Devon Reese, both running for Mayor, represent Reno City Council on this board and they both voted IN FAVOR of the project.

REDHAWK GOLF COURSE IS FACING A SIMILAR ISSUE. The City Council of Sparks will hear from the developer who wants to close the course and build over 700 homes with residents opposing the proposal.
